ABOUT US

Film Academy Milton Keynes is a film-making program aimed at introducing young people to the skills of making films.

Young people learn to create film scripts, prepare story boards, crew and cast for their production, carry out pre-production activities, shoot, edit and premiere their films.

We started as Junior Filmmakers on January 3rd 2013 and we have worked with more than 2000 children in and out of schools in Milton Keynes and its surroundings to produce more than 250 films and hold almost 200 film premieres.

We are now Film Academy Milton Keynes for young people from 9 to 19 years.

Film Academy Milton Keynes is the city's only Accredited Academy dedicated solely to the teaching of filmmaking skills.

Film Academy Milton Keynes is for anyone looking to study film in further education or pursue it as a career or if you are already in a career and planning a change into the film industry or you are looking to enhance your skills and knowledge, FAMK is here to cater to you.

Our academic intake takes place mainly as face to face sessions in September and February each year and we will operate both daytime and evening sessions as well as online sessions.

We also run online sessions for people who cannot attend the face to face sessions.

We offer accredited qualifications through SQA to individuals who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and experience in filmmaking.

Film Academy Milton Keynes is focused on not just offering theory of filmmaking understanding but on providing hands-on experience for learners empowering learners to be able to transition from our Academy to providing value in the work place or in education with confidence.

Our aim is to be a leading organisation for the provision of high quality accredited training in filmmaking qualifications in the United Kingdom and globally.

Child Safety

We take child safety very seriously. All our staff are DBS checked and we do run safeguarding workshops for our staff.

You are welcome to ask for the DBS certificate of any staff who works with your children.

OUR PEOPLE

Apart from various qualifications, degrees and an impressive resume of experience as filmmakers, all our staff have a minimum of Level 3 in Education and Assessment.

All trainers have SEND training, Safeguarding training and are DBS checked.

Meet The Team

Nana Oguntola

Founder & CEO

Founder, Nana Ofori-Atta Oguntola has been a filmmaker for over 25 years. With a vast catalogue of film and TV content under her belt Nana has won awards for her productions. Nana is an author and a University Lecturer. She is the founder of Junior Filmmakers, MK’s only film training specific club for young people. Nana is also the founder of Film Academy Milton Keynes. Nana has a BA (HONS) in TV, Drama and Theatre and an Executive MBA in the Creative Industries.

Frank Scarito

Tutor

Frank Scarito is a filmmaker, a musician, and a graphic designer. He has produced films, theatre productions, original music and musical performances for many years. A filmmaking trainer for over a decade he has a Level Three in Education and Assessment and a degree in graphic design.

Blessing Egbe

Tutor

Blessing Effiom Egbe is an award-winning screenwriter, producer, and director with over 20 years of experience in the film industry. A graduate of the University of Calabar, with advanced training in screenwriting from Cape Town’s City Varsity Multimedia School and a Master’s degree in Film with Practice from the University of Kent, Blessing is a member of the Directors Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (The Oscars).

Her body of work includes over 300 television episodes and acclaimed feature films.

Rosemary Hill

Tutor

Rosemary Hill is a former BBC producer who has travelled the world making films. She is the current director of ‘The Play’s The Thing’, She writes, produces, directs and acts both for stage and film. She is a highly qualified teacher with teaching qualifications up to degree level.

Faye Gilbert

Tutor

Faye is a writer / director of broadcast drama and film and a self-shooting producer / director of documentaries. She has just completed directing all four episodes of THE TOWER Series 2 for Mammoth Screen and ITV. Faye has been a filmmaking trainer for over ten years..

Segun Oguntola

Tutor

Segun Oguntola is an award-winning writer who has written and directed dozens of TV shows, films and TV advertisements. A screenwriter, he has been teaching for over a decade. He has a BA (Hons) in film and TV and a Level Three in Education and Assessment.
